Arwen is an elf, who chose to accept mortality. She gave the Evenstar to Aragorn, as well as her heart. She is one of my favorite characters, simply because she never stoppped sacrificing. She gave her immortality so that she could die with Aragorn. She said "This was my choice. Wether your will or not there is no ship that can carry me now." Elrond, her father, wanted her to travel with the rest of her kin to the Undying Lands. Aragorn agreed but on the way Elrond had a vision. He saw her son to Aragorn. Elrond was blessed with the gift of foresight. When she confronted him about it he said "That future is almost gone." She replied "But it is not lost." Very odd don't you think? Then again the elves say very odd things.
