Gimli isn't exactly my favorite character but I will tell you stuff. Gimli, son of Gloin, is a dwarf. He and Legolas never really got along. In the last movie they do, but in the rest they just argue. Dwarfs are stubborn by nature and, although he'd never admit it, he cares for Aragorn. When Aragorn returned from supposedly dying he said "You are the most reckless, canniest, and the luckiest man I ever knew. Bless you laddie, bless you." He and Legolas stand side by side in the end movie and Gimli says "I never thought I'd die side by side with and elf." Legolas asked "What about side by side with a friend?" Gimli nods and says "Aye. I could do that." In the battle of Helm's Deep, Gimli couldn't see over the wall. He kept having to ask Legolas what was going on and Legolas replied "Shall I describe it to you? Or shall I find you a box?" Gimli snorted. In another of my favorite elf/dwarf scenes Gimli challenged Legolas to a drinking contest. Legolas had no idea what to do and sniffed it first than drank a tiny bit. Next scene Legolas says (after his like 20th mug) "I feel something. A slight tingle in my fingers. I think it's affecting me." Gimli, slurring at this point said "I knew it. He can't hold his liquor." At this point he collapses and Legolas says "Game over." Gimli, a dwarf, was beaten by "the pointy-eared elfin princeling." He and Legolas have Orc slaying contests. Gimli won Helm's Deep by a margin of one. Gimli killed a Warg and it fell on top of him. He said when he, Legolas, and Aragorn jumped off the ship "There's plenty for the both of us. May the best dwarf win."
