Gollum was once one of the river folk by the name of Smeagol but then the Ring ensnared him. He is also known as Slinker, Stinker, Sneak and many other names. Once Sam accused him of sneaking and when Sam asked what he was doing Gollum answered "Sneaking." He is a very odd bent over creature. He cannot straighten his back properly because he spent so many years (500 to be precise) in his cave with "my precious". He would do anything to keep his precious and bit Frodo's finger off because he had it on. Frodo then knocked him into the fires of Mount Doom where he died, his last act to try and save the precious. He often snuck around and aggravated Sam but saved Frodo's life twice, before he sent him into the tunnel. The tunnel is the Lair of Shelob the giant spider. At one point he tricked Frodo into leaving Sam behind by stealing the lembas bread and crumbling some onto Sam's coat. The rest he threw off the cliff. When Sam woke Frodo up and went to get the lembas bread it wasn't there. Gollum accused Sam of "sancksing while master was asleep". Then Sam tried to kill Gollum and Frodo said that he should stay behind. This was shortly before Frodo went into the tunnel. Gollum always added the letter s to certain words so tricky became tricksy and hobbits became hobbitses.
